The current Supreme Court is responsible for much of the loss of our democracy. We have six right wing ideologues thanks to the Republicans and the Heritage Foundation, who is also the creator of the 2025 Project.

This fact really irritates me.
Obviously, neither political party is perfect.
But the dreaded "worse standard of living, growing economic inequality and less freedom" are all consequences of Republican (and especially MAGA Republican) rule.
At some point, you've got to read some history. It is the Democratic party, and ONLY the Democratic party, that has fought against those issues. We're also the only major party that is pro-union, pro-diversity, pro-meritocracy, pro- CONSTITUTION and pro-RULE OF LAW.

I agree we have a crisis of Representation and that proportional voting will help. However, we have to fix the underlying problem that created our current day dysfunction first. All initiatives We the People want, such as proportional voting, are decided first by the two parties because they control the mechanisms of change, not the People. The single,, foundational pillar of Democracy is fair and robust Citizen Representation. The only topic George Washington spoke about was this very issue and his concern of under representation. Before America can truly move forward we must drastically increase the size of the House of Representatives by doubling or tripling its Members. We must force Congress to end the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 that froze the number of Representatives at 435, which was set in 1913. Since then our population has tripled and the federal budget has ballooned by 15,300%!

More than 100 retired California judges donned their robes and renewed their lifetime oaths of office to affirm the vital importance of an independent judiciary and the rule of law. The resulting "Wall of Justice" video brings together individual recordings from participating judges into a single, powerful tribute. Agree that the near-term priority is a fair mid-term where, presumably, distaste for the current administration leads to a serious obstacle to its agenda. But, unless the new majority also dedicates itself to fixing the system (vs. pondering the future use of Trump's misdeeds to leverage Executive authority for "the good"), the actual dysfunction and decline toward implosion will continue.
The incentives in our devolved electoral and governance system (partisan primaries, unlimited money from private interests, tortured rules in the legislature) are for grandstanding, demonizing the opposition, and brinksmanship. It is likely that many in the new majority - even if you like their policy goals better - will be operating in accord with these incentives (because the incentives and the practical realities of the current system also have the effect of sorting the kind of people who run).
The majority that makes up the middle of the ideological bell curve must act now to insist on fundamental electoral and governance reform, starting with requiring support for that by any candidate for whom we will vote this Fall.
