I agree that things look incredibly bad, but I agree with this author that we cannot give up, we cannot get worn down

I believe that the Supreme Court overstepped its duties which are to interpret the Constitution. They actually added deadly language to overturn the checks and balances that the founders were trying so hard to perfect in our Constitution, namely, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. Other political systems gave in to tyrants, dictators, kings, despots, etc, which were above any law. Now our Supreme Court thrust our posterity into these old ways of allocating power. That's a betrayal.

The trouble with that is, according to the system we have, the law is what they say it is. When Madison said government was needed because men are not angels, he wasn't taking into account that men run the government...

Things do look bad but I refuse to give up. I may be an older invisible woman but I can still speak out, I can still vote, I can try and help the people who are going to be affected by bad policy the most and I can peacefully resist. We cannot just roll over and obey. We cannot just give in to fear. We need to connect with like minded people and plan on which battles we need to fight on the way to winning the war.

VIVE LA RESTISTANCE!

I do not believe that this is a rational, true statement: "Our country remains the most spirited, diverse, multifaceted, downright loud civic experiment in world history. That vigor will never be quashed directly or by force."

Thinking that vigor can't be quashed here is naive. It has already been quashed, as evidenced by the lack of voter turnout.

Humans here are no different fundamentally here in America than humans are in Iran or Hungary. Some resist. Some go along to get along. Some seize the moment and profit enormously.

I'm interested to see how the American people respond to Trump's second term. Gaetz as AG should be plenty to get people in the streets.....

People also have to remember that even though Trump won the popular vote, 90 million eligible Americans did not vote. I wonder how and if they will get engaged during Trump's second term.

Don't give up! We can still do ballot curing TODAY! Key downballot races - and at least one US House race - are still not called.

Tens of thousands of ballots are in limbo due to technicalities which can be fixed (a missing zip code on a mail ballot envelope, a sloppy signature). The voters need to be notified - that can be done by phone even if you’re out-of-state. These are races for Congress, also down ballot races which are very important.

This link tells you where elections are still in play. Click on a state and you’ll see a list that includes phone banking opportunities.

Folks, please restack this so others will see it !

Action step for today - Ballot curing phone calls needed. Democrat Yadira Caraveo still has a chance to win the Colorado race for the US House. The margin is incredibly tight.

Her opponent, (R) Gabe Evans, just pulled ahead but only by an extremely slim margin, and there are still votes from Caraveo-favored counties that have to be cured. If we want any chance of flipping the US House of Representatives, we absolutely must count every vote!

Ballot curing is where volunteers make phone calls to help voters whose ballots are in limbo - due to small errors like an incomplete return address on the outside envelope for a mail-in ballot – a disqualifying error in many counties! (State election boards try to notify voters of these issues after ballots are received.)

To volunteer to cure ballots, fill out this handy form – only takes a moment.

Crisscross: Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor and became president of Germany after Paul Hindenburg's death, i.e., Hitler was not elected by the German People to the office of president. Donald Trump was not appointed as president; he was elected president by the American People.

Yes but he was appointed as the head of government, which was still a coalition with a lot of Nazi Party members. it's not like no one supported Hitler - scads of Germans did.

Action step to help Democrats in very tight races that aren’t called yet - We need to act in the next few days. Ballot curing! Many US House races are not called, and there’s at least one Senate race (Bob Casey in PA) we can still win.

This NPR article shows which races are not yet called. Getting even a few more Democrats in Congress (and down ballot races, too) would offer some protection against Trump.

Ballot curing is making phone calls to help voters whose ballots were set aside due to small issues (an incomplete return address on the flap of a mail-in ballot’s envelope, an illegible signature, etc.). You can easily do it by phone.

Curing ballots could well make the difference in which party controls the US House of Representatives.

Folks, we can’t give up! That’s how tyrants win.

Jan this is misleading. Curing ballots would not change the result of control of the House or Senate.
