When things are working well - due to the committed and experienced professionals in our Federal agencies - the guard rails are invisible to most people. But if you break things just for the heck of it, you see the damage done. I can't even find words to express how stupid, deranged, and dangerous Trump is. This article is an excellent summary of all the bad things that used to happen but don't anymore because of our regulatory agencies. But now they are happening again and we have one person to thank…Actually no we have millions to thank - voters who wanted to return Trump to the White House are responsible too. Anyone who was paying attention knew Trump’s intentions
Ben, thank you for writing such a thoughtful article. I think so many of us don't feel safe right now. People can only take so much stress, especially when their jobs and livelihood are threatened. Who knows whether such distractions played a role in this terrible crash. We have moved from a president who, yes, was flawed, but cared deeply about this country and worked every day to lift up its people, to one who is a mean-spirited grifter who only cares about his wealth and ego, and putting people down. I can't help but think that the enormous changes cascading through our system at such a disturbing rate portend other catastrophes.
I read all of your posts and find them extremely informative but am left wanting and needing them to include a “what do we do about it” conclusion. For those of us with open eyes about what is happening, we need guidance from somewhere, anywhere, about what we can do right now.
Ben, you and your colleagues are doing a great job of showing how the Trump administration is implementing the authoritarian playbook--and how it is working to repeal at least a century and a half of improvement in our democratic republic. I am by nature a calm person (boring, some might say), but I find it hard to keep my spirits up as the playbook is implemented. I’m glad to have this place to commiserate and to find emotional support from others who understand the gravity of the threat.
I think for everybody asking what we do about it. I don't know what else we can do but hit the streets in the millions but social media has made cohesion and ability to get word out to massive amounts of people too fragmented to be effective. A general strike that will stop the gears of society until some correction is made. They're going to make us suffer anyway at least we can be on the offense. We need a charismatic leader to come forward with a bully pulpit and that will reach the highest amount of people. Without somebody who has a bullhorn at this point it's going to be difficult
This is all well and good. But who are you trying to persuade? And how does this stop a slow rolling coup? Someone needs to get out with tight talking points in FOX. Who when and what message?
Has to stop? That's absurd. There is nothing, and no one, to stop this. There is no magic fairy dust. The Dems are quaking cowards. Nobody is coming to our rescue. We are on our own.
At some point FAA employees should figure out who can afford to reply “Resign” in the body of that email, and make sure there’s too few to legally open the airspace. And let’s see the administration cope with the fallout.

At what point could we begin to discuss impeachment?
And I continue to be SAD and SCARED!

After I read some of Project 2025 I tried to explain to people how firing civil
Servants and installing loyalists would make us less safe. I still cannot believe all the people that voted for Trump! 😳

I can't get over how people just do what he says . . .
