You are so wrong about this pardon. Read Heather Cox Richardson's piece of Dec. 2, or Joyce Vance, also Dec. 2. I just subscribed to your publication, but after seeing you jump on the "let's bash Biden, ooh he bwoke his pwomise" bandwagon in lockstep with the legacy media, I've unsubscribed. This is SUCH a BAD time for you to be nitpicking this issue.

This is a completely different situation. President Biden had every right to pardon his son to protect him against Trump appointments like his intended appointment of consipiracy theorist Kash Patel to direct the FBI, who has treatened to, and will if appointed, go after everyone Trump considers to be his enemy. And that's every political foe. Plus, as President Biden pointed out, Hunter's conviction, as it was carried out, was political in nature. Trump's the one abusing pardoning powers. He's intending to issue pardons to all the January 6th rioters who he calls hostages. And he already issued pardons to convicted felons like Flynn, Stone, etc., and now Charles Kushner. Those people are actual felons. And now he's appointing Kushner to be the US ambassador to France. It's bothersome that the main stream corporate press especially, and now the author of this post, can't see the differences.

Sometimes people break promises. Everyone has the ability to change their mind. Especially with Trump's criminal horde potentially coming in to the cabinet

I’m surprised and honestly disappointed to see this opinion coming from an organization that is so well versed in autocracy yet can’t seem to appreciate the context surrounding this decision. Sham investigations, retribution against political rivals, and lawfare is typical of how autocratic regimes operate. There was nothing normal about the relentless pursuit of Hunter Biden, and there is no good faith debate to be had about it. It never should have happened. He isn’t even a public official, but a private citizen.

You say he was only pardoned because he was the president’s son; I disagree. I would argue that if Harris had won, Biden likely would have let the conviction stand. I would also argue we have no idea if Biden would or wouldn’t have pardoned someone unrelated to him who he saw as being under direct threat of the incoming administration.

You can argue that presidential pardons should be a thing of the past, but making an example out of Biden to illustrate your point distracts from the very real and alarming series of events that led to his conviction in the first place. Today it’s the president’s son who was targeted. Tomorrow it’s journalists, election workers, state officials, opposing party members, and ultimately ordinary people who will find themselves in the crosshairs.

I'm glad he did it. That poor guy was abused by politicians not ordinary law enforcement. We're fighting fascism and it's hardly a Dresden or a Hiroshima.

The situation has changed. If the president now has full immunity and Trump got away with stealing government documents, that's a bigger issue. This example isn't the one to look at. Kushner, Stone and the potential pardons of the Jan 6 rioters make your case.

Sorry, no Biden's pardon wasn't an abuse of power. It was a response to an abuse of power. You are making a mistake jumping on the media feeding frenzy while ignoring the context. Hunter Biden would not have been charged if he had been anyone other than the president’s son.

This pardon didn’t happen in a vacuum. It comes within the context of a highly weaponized DOJ and FBI under the Trump presidency. You can’t ignore that fact and that the situation has radically changed and, rightfully, has Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter has changed.

Yeah, not so much.

The pardon power, as written, is absolute.

The pardon power, as exercised by PRESIDENT Biden, was done so within the written words and meaning of the Constitution.

Of all the abuses of power performed by past Presidents, the abuse of the power to pardon pales in comparison to the abuse of the Emoluments clause TFG perpetrated during his first term. Let us focus on reforms that may prove to actually, you know, mean something to future generations.

I love your article and if you write on stuff i like I will quote and share your stuff...

Why are people gyrating on this one Pardon - no one gyrated so hard over the Trump pardoning his criminal friends and Jarod's Father?

--- Why are we not GYRATING over the election 24 interference? Because you haven't heard of any? Not a word over the 150 bomb threats from Russia, we don't even know how many there were or what states or counties --- only that it did not interfere with the voting.

TRUMP screamed for months and even started his own investigative body into the FEIGNED illegals who voted in 2016, We all remember the Russia/Trump tower meeting, the paying porn star, having a magazine publish defaming articles against his enemies, His calling for Russia to hack the DNC, the DNC hack and email release...

2020 Ukraine blackmail for Biden Dirt, the entire Hunter laptop bull that turned out to be a copied harddrive that had been manipulated - Rudy etc, Losing - but having a whole list of what to do before losing - claiming he won, fake elector slates, 62 lawsuits, trying to force Justice Officials to release emails claiming suspicions of fraud, trying to force Pence to throw it back to the states, and the Jan 6 mob.

Why is ANYONE so certain there was no fraud in 2024?

Why is no one gyrating over the missing votes? the 150+ bomb threats emails/calls? The thousands of dems thrown off roles with out their knowledge whose votes were not counted, The

MEDIA MANIPULATIONS - basically Fox news stealing the election by lying to their viewers? Misleading them to believe China not the US citizens pays taxes. Misleading woman to believe Trump had nothing to do with Project 2025 and then installing writers of it onto his cabinet and planing to do what he said he was not going to do??

Billionaires just stole our country - maybe with electronics - they only had the software for 3 + years and pre-election internet access.

The Data security experts who are sounding alarms and producing info and starting lawsuits in their counties? https://substack.com/home/post/p-152196691

Weird "Programming errors" that turn blue votes red have been found in several counties in MI and Penn. but no one is talking about it.https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/11/25/lawmaker-jim-haadsma-requests-recount-battle-creek-state-house-election-steve-frisbie/76569420007/

Loved your article on Biden/Hunter - but lets GYRATE OVER INFO that WILL STOP THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY --- there is too much smoke -- we need to get it out into the media and start the FIRE!!

I completely disagree with your assessment of this pardon. tRump pardoned far worse criminals while in office. Biden was looking out for his sons future.....you know Hunter was going to be hounded by tRumps DOJ for who knows how long. He did the right thing.

Wow, as I reply to this, I sure find myself in a nest of blindfolded vipers with TDS. The radical Lefties voluntarily ignore all of the facts that are available but suppressed by the media, that prove J6 was an inside job with Ray Epps coordinating with dozens of of his comrades planted in the crowd by the DNC, aided and abetted by the former MSM sticking to the Insurrection script handed to them by the DNC, in an attempt to make the word Insurrection stick to DJT, in order to be able to use it as a tool to disqualify Trump from running for POTUS in 2024.

Such a pedestrian and orderly Insurrection it was I must say, one that I would have felt safe taking my 90 yr old grandmother to, compared to the MSM described "peaceful" BLM and Antifa riots that burned down much of Minneapolis and Portland. Such blind hypocrisy, not to mention that Nancy Pelosi is on video refusing to deploy the 10 or 20K National Guard troops that Trump offered to keep things from escalating. Biden's pardoning of his son for his previous decade of malfeasance was totally predictable, and designed to cover Joe's ass more than his son's. As for the cartoon content, I do consider Mr. Ramirez to be the best in his field out there by far, but our political viewpoints are definitely not in lockstep. So be it and Season's Greetings to all.
