Biden would have to be a masochist to turn his son over to violent and retaliatory trump, an impulsive buffoon choosing buffoons to run the country for the most part.

Hunter Biden was ALREADY the victim of an abuse of power. It wasn’t anticipatory. It ALREADY HAPPENED. The fact that President Biden remained on the sidelines for as long as he did just goes to show his determination to follow the rules went far beyond what could reasonably be expected from most people. Now all bets are off. Congress is the reason the political persecution of Hunter Biden occurred in the first place, so why assume they would stop the escalation? This is naive at best…frankly, it’s delusional.

And I disagree the pardoning of Hunter Biden is self-interested and not in service of the public good. I do not want to live in a country where such abuses of power are tolerated. Any one of us could be next. I want to see the opposition resisting the abuse with every weapon their arsenal; if a presidential pardon is one of them, good. Seeing a demonstration of a resistance sends a clear message. After all, if the president leaves office not even having protected his own son, how does that bode for the rest of us?

The incoming president has demonstrated that he is serious about attacking political rivals. He has threatened it, he has done it before, and he has more power than ever. It’s not an escalation, it’s simply what he’d do anyway. No one wins by Hunter sitting in jail. It’s not going to stop Trump or his loyal henchmen.
